And so polly2-rtl begins!

After years of considering doing more verilog / fpga work, getting inspired by ElectronAsh’s progress with his core, the ptixiaki project refreshing my verilog skills, and looking at how much more capable Claude Code is, the stars aligned and I decided to port refsw2 to the de10-nano.

Within a span of a week or so and after heavy claude prompting, there is a skeleton now that will render somewhat correctly. Most importantly, this has been proven to fit on the de10-nano board, with a few sacrifices.

With a stunning framerate of 2-4 fps, and a Dreamcast emulator running on the ARM core to feed it, this is a solid proof of concept!

While it’d be tempting to call it an AI core and mark it complete, this is really far from what the de10-nano can do. I want to spend more time on this over the next months/years and get it as fast and as accurate as it can be given the constraints!

Let’s see where this goes!

Many many thanks to ElectronAsh for his prior work, and to both ElectronAsh/Corn for the mister harness/testing/captures.
